How-To's: Styrofoam Printing

Inks, styrofoam tray, test prints on paper

Spread ink with rubber brayer, until it's thin enough

Tips: Glass did not work out well with water-based ink, it only works great with oil-based.

We have some new pouches with styrofoam prints technique. We had them in lime green grey combo as shown at the posting below or here. To draw the pattern on the styrofoam, please use ballpoint pen. To create 5 pouches, we need two blocks, since it was easily clogged.

Bits of Pasar HelloFest

This is our second year in Pasar Hellofest. Still, we keep returning to the bad, old habit: not taking as many new product pictures as possible, before it's all gone. We've been holding ourselves not to over publishing before the launch date, but it's easily forgotten.
We stayed up late, a night before. Until 3 AM in the morning, to get things done. Awake at 7.30 and arrived at the bazaar around 8.30-ish I supposed. The saga of last minute seamstress continued, I was still hand-sewing the pouch string at the venue after we set up the booth. Few passerby asked for the plushies price, we randomly answered. Jules stamped the postcards, one of our fast selling items.

Hello Hellofest 8!

Mari teman-teman, yang Sabtu ini kurang hiburan di rumah, awal bulan saat yang tepat untuk beli-beli mainan atau barang kerajinan tangan dan lihat film-film animasi keren. Ada cosplay-nya juga dari KostuMasa. Acaranya dibagi di dua venue, untuk Pasar Hellofest lokasinya di Kartika Expo, Balai Kartini (masuk dari arah Jl. Denpasar). Untuk nonton cosplay KostuMasa dan film animasinya, di gedung yang biasa dipakai buat pesta pernikahan di bagian depan.

Mikisi Curiosities Etc. ada di Pasar Hellofest booth A-24. Kami punya barang baru yang akan diupload previewnya di blog ini esok hari (Jumat, 3 Februari 2011). Dari pengalaman tahun lalu (Hellofest 7), sebetulnya Pasar Hellofest ini seperti ajang preview barang dagangan baru Mikisi. Biasanya karena terlalu senang, kami suka kelupaan untuk foto-fotoin barangnya. Tahun ini kami mau menghilangkan kebiasaan jelek itu. Hehehhe. Sampai ketemu di sana ya :)

Wrapped: 2011

Tomorrow, the year 2011 will be ended. We, Mikisi Curiosities Etc., Dindie & Julian, want to wave them goodbye. Most of the time we wasted our energy on things we did not really into, like our day job or terrible deadlines. As human, we are at each other's throat over dreams & reality. We will let them float in space, but grasp our passion with our bare hands.

We've been hibernated after my last trips to Prabumulih, South Sumatera and Bloemfontein, South Africa, and Julian's overwhelming deadlines of 3-D stages & booths projects. These could be the next designs of Mikisi Curiosities for 2012. We're thinking of re-entering another craft fair in 2012, Hellofest, in February 2012 (we'll meet again soon).

Oh my, we forgot to change our "Sorry We're Closed" sign on our store.

and...the good thing is...we're developing new pattern on notebooks. we're working on it this weekend.
